WALKING? THAT WASN’T PART OF THE DEAL!

When Dollar was on Earth, everything was a single phone call away. Celebrities came to his house, and CEOs opened their schedules for him. If he needed to, he could get to the other side of the world with a single call, either in his own private jet or a friend’s. For trips to the city, he would be driven or have whatever he needed delivered to his doorstep.

Essentially, driving was a pastime and not a necessity.

That didn’t mean he didn’t know how to drive. After all, he still had an awesome garage filled with expensive cars he wanted to show off, but driving was something he did on a whim, not because he needed to. Below that on the totem pole was walking. He walked to be fit. He didn’t walk to get to places.

Which was why the final three-hour walk to Gresha was pure torture. Blue grass and blue stone roads became a common sight, but he could barely admire them when he was dead on his feet, especially after the day he’d had. Now that the adrenaline of leaving Miridion Forest and chasing the grec had disappeared, his exhaustion had caught up to him.

Another reason for his sudden dreariness was the sustenance symbol. The symbol had been doing more of the heavy lifting than he thought and as he passed by the grec it snorted at him from its cage. He shot it a dirty look and it held its head up high, laughing at him.

Dollar soon fell behind Mitsy and Grisham. After several hours of fighting and walking, the two silver-ranked adventurers were fresh as daisies and hadn’t broken a sweat. Mitsy even had the energy to flitter about the grass fields, staring in wonder at the plants and flowers of the southern continent.

He suspected they were secretly terminators in disguise.

Is this the power of a high stamina stat? Mitsy at least had clearly put points into it and strength.

“I will invent an automatic carriage and beat this grass plain to death with it,” Dollar declared.

There was an oink of laughter beside him as the grec watched him, content to be carried across the plain by Mitsy. It rolled over, its large belly flopping up toward the night sky as it rolled on the floor, having the time of its life. The girl had even scooped up some dirt and mixed it with water, throwing mud into the cage and beaming when the grec enjoyed every moment of it.

Why Mitsy hadn’t put the cage back into her choker once the grec was inside was a mystery to him. Maybe there was a weight limit.

“I’m taking flak from a pig.” Dollar shook his head. “So, this is what rock bottom feels like.”

“Rock bottom hits you a lot harder than this,” Mitsy’s voice floated toward him. “My dad slammed face-first into it, which is why he looks like he does now.”

Dollar glanced at the cheerful blonde and held back his smile. Grisham was staring daggers at her, and he didn’t want to share any of her incoming punishment.
